BQ launched today, a flash sale for the all new Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition. At the first was a bit strange to put on market the new phone on a flash sale mode, but understandable since this is not a standard Android device.
From the perspective of Ubuntu Phone, is a kind of market acceptance test with long-term perspective, the launch by other internationally recognized brands.
And the first impressions are...
A Huge Success
As mentioned on +BQ Twitter official account, Ubuntu Edition was sold out in only three hours, and a registered a demand of 12 000 orders peer minute! - By this numbers, it was sold about 2 160 000 phones ( if my calculations are right ). This was reports from the first flash sale of today, and second flash sale was made, but until now there is no reports on the demand.
" We experienced a huge demand this morning, receiving over 12,000 orders per minute and unfortunately our servers went down as a result... " Source +BQ
The only problem worthy of note, is the fact that the proud owners of the new mobile device, have to wait until mid-March to receive it. This can be a bit disconcerting for those that, has waited a device with Ubuntu Phone operating system.
" ...More will be made available as further flash sales are held throughout the month. Please bear in mind that all orders placed for Ubuntu smartphones will not be delivered in any case until March..." Source: +BQ
Now the question is, whether the volume of purchase orders will progressively increase or will decline. In any case, the first test was a huge success, and even for the most optimistic was beyond the expectations.
For those that have no fixed address in Europe, will have to wait a little bit longer.
We hope that this publication has been useful.
